Coco Happy Farm: A Local Farmstay in Ben Tre

Choosing a place to stay in the Mekong Delta is also choosing how you will experience it. A city hotel makes transport and restaurants easy. A resort offers more facilities. A rural farmstay places you closer to gardens, village roads, family life and the sounds of the countryside—but farther from urban convenience.

Coco Happy Farm belongs to my family in Lương Hòa, Ben Tre. I returned home in 2017 after working as a tour guide and began developing part of our family farm into a small place for guests. My parents continue their farm life, my sister Thúy looks after food and I host stays and local experiences. Agriculture, meals and accommodation meet here, but this remains a family home and working rural property rather than a staged attraction.

A family farm that gradually became a farmstay

The idea was not to copy a hotel in the countryside. It was to give visitors a comfortable base from which they could understand where coconuts come from, move through small village lanes, eat local food and meet people without joining a large, tightly timed tour.

The farm is intentionally modest. Plants change with seasons. Family members have work to do. Tropical rain can alter a cycling route. Fruit is available when the garden has it, not because a display must always look full. This everyday variability is part of a genuine farmstay, although it also means the experience is less predictable than a resort.

What does a stay actually feel like?

There is no pressure to fill every hour. Many guests remember drinking a fresh coconut, sharing a meal or talking after a ride as clearly as they remember a formal activity. The farmstay works best when it gives structure where useful and leaves space where it is not.

Three types of accommodation

Room names on booking platforms can be confusing, so start with the people in your group and the level of space you need. Current prices vary by date, occupancy, breakfast plan, promotion and booking channel; check the live rate rather than relying on an old blog price.

The Duplex Cabin and Two-Bedroom House can accommodate larger groups, but maximum capacity is not always the most comfortable arrangement. Tell us the ages of children, preferred bed setup and mobility needs. We would rather recommend honestly than create a crowded stay.

What is included—and what costs extra?

Activities are small-scale and may be shared with other guests staying at the farm. Availability depends on weather, local hosts, boat operations and the number of participants. Ask before arrival if one experience matters strongly to you. A room reservation does not automatically include every tour shown on the website.

Who will enjoy Coco Happy Farm?

Rustic should never mean unclear. The rooms have practical comforts, but nature remains close. You may hear frogs, geckos, birds, neighbours or rain on the roof. There can be mosquitoes outside, and village life starts earlier than city life. These details delight some guests and bother others; knowing them before booking matters.

Where is the farm, and how do you get there?

Coco Happy Farm is at 674 Hòa Bình Hamlet, Lương Hòa Commune, in the Ben Tre travel area of today’s Vĩnh Long Province. It is not in Ben Tre city centre. That rural location gives direct access to small lanes and gardens, but it also means travellers should solve the last mile before arriving.

From Ho Chi Minh City, private pickup is the simplest door-to-door choice and is especially useful with young children, substantial luggage or a late arrival. The current guide price starts from 1,700,000 VND per car; confirm the pickup point, vehicle and fare before booking. My older brother Thành, a professional driver with more than 25 years of experience, often operates these transfers.

For better value, local people commonly use buses such as Minh Tâm rather than international booking engines. Minh Tâm can transfer guests to the entrance of Mã Đá road, about 3 km from the farm, and we can collect guests there free of charge by motorbike when safe and suitable. Booking directly can make questions easier because you speak with the farm, but an OTA may offer familiar payment or cancellation tools. Whichever channel you use, keep changes inside that channel when required and read the current cancellation terms before confirming.
