Private car. The journey to Coco Happy Farm normally takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. A private transfer is the simplest choice for families, guests with luggage or travelers arriving at the airport. Minh Tâm bus. Allow about 2.5 hours on the bus and around 3.5 hours in total once transfers are included. For Coco Happy Farm, ask to get off at Đầu Lộ Mã Đá; the farm is about 3 kilometres away and pickup can be coordinated.

Best things to do in Ben Tre
Take a hand-rowed sampan. A small wooden boat can enter nipa-palm canals that larger boats cannot. Choose a quiet route and treat the rower and waterside homes respectfully.
Travel on a covered riverboat. A larger boat gives a broader view of the river and provides shade. It pairs well with a sampan rather than replacing it.

Phước Long Cổ Tự is an active Buddhist temple, not simply a photo stop. Dress respectfully and keep voices low. Village cultural sites are most rewarding when someone local can explain their place in the community.

Ben Tre is a year-round destination. The drier months, roughly December to April, usually bring more sun and easier outdoor planning. The rainy season is greener and showers often arrive strongly but briefly. Rain can cool the day, though routes and boat plans should change when conditions are unsafe.
Heat matters in every season. Use shade, water, a hat and a relaxed schedule. Early mornings and late afternoons are often more comfortable for outdoor activities than the middle of the day.
A realistic 2-day Ben Tre itinerary
Day 1: Travel from Ho Chi Minh City, settle into a village stay and eat lunch. Spend the afternoon on a river journey combining a larger shaded boat with a small sampan where appropriate. Continue through sunset and look for fireflies after dark when natural conditions allow.
Day 2: Cycle through coconut villages, stopping at a market, temple, garden or small processing place depending on what is active. Return for a family lunch, rest, then travel onward.
With a third day, slow down further: join a cooking class, spend time in the garden, fish, read in the shade or simply observe family farm life. The extra day should reduce the schedule, not add another long checklist.
